Information

Terms of use

By using Rust Census, you agree to these terms. They set out how the site is offered and what you can expect from the data. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

How we count. Rust Census records every public Rust server listed on Steam and on the servers themselves. Figures are refreshed every five minutes. We cannot guarantee that every figure is correct at the moment you read it: a server may report a wipe late, publish a name that is not accurate, or show a player count that lags. Treat the site as a snapshot, not a guarantee.

Your use of the site. You may browse and compare servers without an account or payment. Please do not send rapid automated requests to pages; that slows the site for other players. If you need the full dataset, email hello@rustcensus.world and we will discuss it.

Crawlers and automated tools. Search engines, AI crawlers and other bots are welcome. Check robots.txt and llms.txt before you crawl; they list what is available and where. Keep your request rate reasonable so that real visitors still get fast pages.

Server owners. Your server appears because it is on the public list. Everything on its page comes from what the server publishes: name, tags, wipe times and player slots. To change what we display, change it on the server. We usually pick up edits within five minutes.

Independence. Rust Census is independent and has no connection with Facepunch Studios. Rust is a trademark of Facepunch Studios.

Changes to these terms. We may change these terms without notice. The date below shows when they last changed. If you continue to use the site after that date, you accept the updated terms.

Questions and answers

Can I use Rust Census data for my own project?

You may email hello@rustcensus.world to discuss access to the full dataset. Automated tools should read robots.txt and llms.txt first and keep request rates sensible. The site itself is free to browse.

How accurate is the data on Rust Census?

Data is read from Steam's public Rust server list and from servers directly every five minutes. We aim for accuracy, but a server can report a wipe late or show a player count that lags. Figures are rounded and should be treated as a snapshot rather than a guarantee.

How do I change what is shown for my server?

Everything on a server page comes from what the server publishes: name, tags, wipe times and player slots. To change what we display, change it on the server. We usually pick up edits within five minutes.
